1About the service
These terms set out the conditions for using Soribook (the “App”), an iPhone app provided by 애플페어 (Applepair, the “Publisher”).
Soribook (소리책) is a family-memory app that keeps the stories your parents tell or write in their own voice and turns only what the family has reviewed into one book. Stories are kept on Soribook’s server. There are no ads and no in-app purchases.
These terms apply both to the iPhone app and to the web version that invited family members open from an invitation link.
By downloading or using the App you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2Conditions of use
- The App is free.
- Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement (Apple Standard EULA) also applies. If the two documents differ on the license itself, Apple’s agreement comes first.
- Stories are kept on a server, so you need an internet connection. The app is in Korean.
- Soribook is for adults (parents and their adult children) and is not directed at children. The app does not check age.
- Personal data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.
3Accounts
- You can start as a guest (no email) or with an email. With email you sign in using a 6-digit code sent to your email; there is no password.
- A guest can link an email to use the same account on another device. A guest account without a linked email may not be recoverable if you delete and reinstall the app, so link an email if you plan to keep using it.
- Keeping your account, device and email safe is your responsibility. Do not give or lend your account to anyone.
- In a family space you can set roles (admin, recorder, reader), and an admin invites family members with an invitation link. A link works once, for 7 days, and can be cancelled.
- You can delete your account inside the app under 설정 (settings) → 계정 삭제 (delete account). Before deleting, the app shows what is deleted and what stays with the family; details are under Retention and deletion in the privacy policy.
- The Publisher may restrict the use of an account that breaks these terms.
4Content you create
- You own the content you write, record or upload in the App (“Content”). The Publisher does not claim ownership of it.
- The Publisher handles Content only as needed to provide the App. What is stored and where it goes is described in the Privacy Policy.
- You are responsible for making sure your Content does not break the law or infringe anyone’s rights.
- Your recordings, uploaded audio files, photos and captions, text and edits are your Content.
- Stories hold information about other people, sometimes people who have passed away. You must make sure you are entitled to record those stories and share them with your family.
- In the app’s consent screens, consent to original storage, AI processing, family sharing and first-person memoirs is recorded as a family member confirming on that person’s behalf, and you are responsible for making sure that confirmation is true.
- A story is seen by the person who left it and, depending on its visibility, by the family or by chosen members. There is no public profile, feed or search, so nothing is public outside the family.
- Deleting one story hides it from the family and stops processing, but the original file and records remain on the server. How data is stored and what the operator can see is described in the privacy policy.
5AI features
- Results the App’s AI creates or selects can be wrong or inaccurate. Checking and using the results is up to you.
- AI results do not replace professional advice.
- Recordings are turned into text on a server run by Soribook, and audio is not sent to another company.
- Memoir drafts are written by an external AI service (Z.ai). Speech is transcribed and drafts are written only while that person’s AI processing consent is on. For a draft, the text of the story, the question, the subject’s name and similar details are sent; audio, photos and email addresses are not.
- You can switch consent off under 책 (book) → 동의 설정 보기 (consent settings), and then no new drafts are made. What was already sent cannot be recalled from the app.
- Until the family reviews it, a draft is visible only to the person who recorded it, and it goes into the book only after a family member reads, edits and approves it. AI drafts can be wrong, so whoever approves must check the content, and the approver is responsible for the text they approve.
6Paid features
Soribook has no paid features, no in-app purchases and no ads. If digital goods are ever sold, they will be sold only through Apple In-App Purchase. In that case the content and price will be shown in the App before you buy, and these terms will be updated first. Refunds follow Apple’s policy.
7Prohibited conduct
Please do not:
- hack, disassemble or modify the App, except where the law allows it
- try to get around the App’s security or usage limits
- break the law or infringe other people’s rights
- impersonate the Publisher or anyone else
- upload content you have no right to upload (for example other people’s copyrighted work)
- use someone else’s account or invitation link
- try to make a story visible to people who are not family or whom you did not intend
- leave content that harasses others or damages their reputation
8Intellectual property
- Rights in the App and in its name, icon, screens, text, artwork and sounds belong to the Publisher or to their respective rights holders.
- You may use the App for personal purposes. This right cannot be transferred to anyone else, and these terms grant no other rights.
- Where the App uses components provided under open licenses, those parts follow their own licenses.
- Rights in stories, recordings and photos stay with you (or the rightful owner). The app’s fonts follow an open license (SIL OFL).
9Changes to or end of the service
- The App can change through updates, and features can be added or removed.
- The app depends on Soribook’s server and outside services, so if they stop some features will not work.
- If the Publisher decides to end the service, it will announce this on this page 30 days before. If it must stop at once for legal or safety reasons, it will stop first and announce afterwards.
10Limits of liability
- The App is provided as it is. The Publisher does not guarantee that it will run without errors or interruption.
- Soribook handles precious records, but the Publisher does not guarantee that data will be kept forever or can be recovered. Please keep important original recordings elsewhere.
- The Publisher is not responsible for disputes between family members or third parties caused by Content you leave, except where the Publisher acted intentionally or with gross negligence.
- To the extent the law allows, the Publisher is not liable for indirect or special damages arising from use of the App. This limit does not apply to damage caused by the Publisher’s intent or gross negligence, and your rights under the law are not reduced by these terms.
- Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for maintaining or supporting the App. Please direct questions about the App to the Publisher.
- These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, and disputes are handled by the court with jurisdiction under the Korean Civil Procedure Act.
11Changes to these terms
- If the terms change, this page is updated and the “Last updated” date changes.
- Changed terms are announced on this page 7 days before they take effect, or 30 days before if the change is unfavourable to you. Soribook also announces them in the app.
- If you do not agree to the changed terms, stop using the App. If you keep using it after they take effect, you are treated as agreeing.
- If an update changes how the App handles information, the Privacy Policy is updated before that update is released.
